MTG taps Supercell exec to lead marketing at ‘Europe’s largest collection of midcore studios’

Swedish gaming roll-up group MTG has appointed Iwo Zakowski as Chief Marketing Officer for its midcore division. Zakowski joins from Supercell, where he served as global head of marketing for live games during a three-year tenure. Prior to Supercell, he held the position of head of global brand marketing at Burger King and has also worked in marketing roles at consumer goods company Danone.

MTG’s midcore portfolio encompasses several studios including Plarium, InnoGames, Snowprint, Hutch, Ninja Kiwi, and PlaySimple. The company positions itself as owning Europe’s largest collection of midcore studios. Zakowski’s appointment reflects MTG’s continued investment in senior marketing leadership for its consolidated studio portfolio as the company pursues its strategy of acquiring and managing multiple game development and publishing entities.

The hire exemplifies ongoing industry trends where experienced marketing executives transition between major gaming publishers and mainstream consumer brands. Zakowski’s background combining live-service gaming expertise at Supercell with consumer brand management at Burger King positions him to bring cross-industry marketing insights to MTG’s diverse midcore portfolio.
