Pokémon Champions: Champion of Champions Announced
Nintendo has announced Champion of Champions, a new competitive showmatch tournament for Pokémon scheduled to take place in London on July 29. The event will feature eight elite players, all coached by Ray Rizzo, a three-time Pokémon World Champion and Video Game Championships (VGC) competitor.
Distinguishing itself from traditional competitive tournaments, Champion of Champions is positioned as an exhibition-style showmatch that will feature champions competing in unique and unexpected disciplines. Rather than focusing solely on conventional competitive gameplay, the event blends entertainment with competition.
The tournament offers substantial prizes for the winner, including a trip to the 2027 Pokémon World Championships and a charitable donation made in their name to a charity of their choice. This charitable component adds a philanthropic dimension to the competitive event.
By combining exhibition-style competition with charitable giving and featuring decorated competitors under Ray Rizzo’s coaching, Champion of Champions appears designed to appeal to both hardcore competitive players and broader gaming audiences interested in seeing elite competitors showcase their skills in novel formats.
