Ubisoft taps former 2K president Christoph Hartmann to oversee Tom Clancy franchise

Ubisoft has appointed Christoph Hartmann, the former president of 2K Games and most recently head of Amazon Game Studios, to lead its “Creative House 2” division. This leadership role is part of Ubisoft’s recent organizational restructuring into five specialized “creative houses” dedicated to different franchise types.

Creative House 2 focuses on competitive and cooperative shooter experiences and oversees Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy franchises, including The Division, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell. The division also encompasses major internal studios—Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Paris, and Ubisoft Toro—bringing significant development capacity under Hartmann’s supervision.

Hartmann’s appointment draws on his extensive industry experience, including 14 years as president of 2K Games under Take-Two Interactive. He departed Amazon Game Studios earlier this year as the company shifted away from big-budget game development. This hire underscores Ubisoft’s strategic commitment to its shooter-focused portfolio and reflects the broader industry trend of executives moving between major publishers to lead flagship franchises.
