World of Warcraft’s on the quality-of-life boost warpath, with fixes including an auto-loot setting that’s been mildly inconveniencing alt-lovers for years

World of Warcraft is launching a series of quality-of-life improvements ahead of its next major patch, Curse of Ula’tek. Blizzard’s latest updates address long-standing friction points that have particularly affected players managing multiple characters.

Key improvements include fixes to auto-looting and area looting mechanics—changes that alt-lovers have found inconvenient for years. The developer has also implemented performance upgrades to Silvermoon City, one of WoW’s major hub zones, alongside faster Prey hunt completion times and experience point buffs.

World boss mechanics are also being adjusted as part of the broader update cycle. According to Blizzard’s official blog, the studio has already implemented several of these changes, with additional features still to come. The updates reflect a visible effort to reduce friction in the player experience, particularly for quality-of-life systems that affect daily gameplay loops.

Curse of Ula’tek represents WoW’s first major “big number” patch of the expansion cycle, suggesting this update will be followed by additional content drops. The focus on both performance optimization and mechanical quality-of-life improvements indicates Blizzard’s approach to balancing new content with foundational gameplay improvements.
