As the memory crisis continues and players begin to complain, Cinder City drops 64GB RAM requirement and ups GPU requirement instead

Cinder City, a new online co-op shooter from South Korean publisher NC, has revised its system requirements following player backlash. The game, announced earlier this week as a title blending The First Descendant-style gameplay with zombie shooter mechanics, initially sparked controversy upon the publication of its specifications on Steam.

The primary source of outrage was its demanding RAM requirement. The recommended specification initially called for 64GB of memory—an unusually high threshold that drew immediate complaints from players already struggling with inflated hardware costs and availability issues in the broader “memory crisis” affecting PC gaming.

In response to the feedback, NC dropped the 64GB RAM requirement entirely. Rather than simply lowering the barrier to entry, the publisher compensated by increasing GPU requirements instead. This strategic shift moves the performance bottleneck from RAM to graphics card specifications, allowing players with powerful GPUs but more modest RAM configurations to meet the game’s needs.
