New Sims 4 update cuts back on excessive notifications—you can finally silence your phone, and the grim reaper will try to recruit you less
The Sims 4 has received a quality-of-life update focused on reducing notification spam that has frustrated players for years. The game’s notification system, particularly with multiple expansion packs installed, generates constant interruptions through unsolicited calls from acquaintances and persistent alerts that disrupt gameplay and can lead to unfortunate in-game consequences.
The latest patch introduces expanded menu options for controlling in-game alerts and notifications. Players can now silence their phone entirely or selectively toggle festival notifications for individual expansion packs, providing more granular control over their experience.
The update also addresses several longstanding annoyances with unrealistic phone calls. Freelancer sims will no longer receive career-related calls for jobs they don’t actually have, and the grim reaper has been adjusted to only attempt recruiting sims already tagged with the macabre trait. These specific fixes target particularly nonsensical scenarios that previously interrupted gameplay without logical reason.
