Sony Slips Again and Blocks Marvel Tokon in 132 Countries on PC

Sony has come under fire once again for blocking Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls from releasing on PC in 132 countries, due to PlayStation Network regional limitations. The fighter’s Steam release is unavailable to players in these territories, frustrating fans who were anticipating the game’s multi-platform launch.

This is not an isolated incident. The restriction stems from long-standing PSN limitations that have previously affected other PlayStation games attempting to release on PC. The practice has historically led to review-bombing and boycotts from affected players, often directed at developers rather than Sony, despite the platform holder being the actual source of the restriction.

The news arrives during a difficult period for Sony, compounding recent public relations challenges the company has faced. Players have already taken to social media to voice their frustrations, and this situation serves as yet another example of how regional platform restrictions continue to negatively impact the gaming industry and player experience.

Notably, while Sony has been scaling back its first-party releases on PC, the company has indicated it will continue publishing live-service and multiplayer titles on the platform. This suggests such regional blocking issues may persist for future PlayStation-published games launching outside PlayStation consoles, despite growing criticism of the practice.
