Kirby Air Riders’ Summer Games Done Quick debut proves why it’s the Switch 2’s best game
Summer Games Done Quick, an annual charity speedrunning livestream benefiting Doctors Without Borders, has begun with an impressive lineup of games. Featured titles include Hollow Knight: Silksong, Pragmata, and Resident Evil Requiem, among others. The event has already produced notable moments, including a record-breaking speedrun of Kirby Air Riders by speedrunner Bluekandy.
Bluekandy’s speedrun featured a special variation on the standard challenge. Originally planned as a straightforward run of all 18 Air Ride courses, a donation incentive changed the objective. Bluekandy instead completed the challenge while using a different racer and cart combination for each of the 18 courses, adding significant difficulty to the task.
The record-breaking achievement highlights Kirby Air Riders’ appeal within the speedrunning community. The game’s inclusion in Summer Games Done Quick’s lineup places it alongside other major titles being showcased during the week-long charity event, demonstrating its prominence in contemporary gaming.
