Arc Raiders’ Matchmaking Update Gives Players What They’ve Always Wanted

Arc Raiders has introduced one of its most requested matchmaking features with update 1.36.0. The extraction shooter now offers separate matchmaking buckets for solo, duo, and trio queues, allowing players to experience different playstyles depending on their group composition. Notably, the game will track players’ playstyles independently across each queue type, meaning a player can adopt different strategies when playing solo versus with teammates.

The update addresses long-standing player concerns about the game’s “aggression-based matchmaking” system, which has influenced lobby creation since Arc Raiders’ October launch. While the existence of this system was initially debated by the community, developer Embark Studios later confirmed that player aggression and PvP preference do factor into matchmaking decisions.

The changes are based on feedback collected through a May survey, demonstrating Embark’s commitment to iterating on core systems based on community input. Beyond the matchmaking improvements, update 1.36.0 also opens the Expedition 4 window and teases an upcoming crossover event with Embark’s first-person shooter The Finals.
