2025’s best puzzle game Blue Prince is now a competitive esport
Blue Prince, Polygon’s selection for best game of 2025, is becoming a competitive esport. The puzzle-roguelike from developer Dogubomb, led by Tonda Ros, features exploration of a constantly changing mansion with numerous secrets to uncover. The game made its competitive debut at Summer Games Done Quick 2025, where speedrunners RadRingtail and BobbyBurm competed in a “bingo” race format that combined the main objective of reaching room 46 (the antechamber) with additional side goals.
Following the success of the SGDQ event, Dogubomb is organizing a dedicated Blue Prince tournament in July with a $20,000 prize pool. The tournament will use the same bingo-style competitive format, establishing the puzzle game as an emerging esport title. Despite over 100 hours of gameplay content, Blue Prince continues to reveal new discoveries to experienced players, suggesting the game’s complex design is well-suited to competitive play.
