Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 Will Get Native PS5 Versions
Activision is bringing Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 to PlayStation 5 with native versions, alongside PS4 ports. The publisher officially announced the ports last month, with development handled by Iron Galaxy. Sony’s Trophy servers have now confirmed both games will be available on both PS5 and PS4, settling earlier uncertainty about whether the ports would rely on PS4 backwards compatibility. The ports are scheduled to launch in July 2026 and are expected to be priced at approximately $40 each, without additional DLC content included. The announcement represents a significant move in game preservation, bringing the beloved PS3-era first-person shooters to current-generation consoles and ensuring these classic titles remain accessible to modern players. The native PS5 versions suggest optimization for the newer hardware, potentially offering enhanced performance compared to backwards compatible versions.
