Crimson Desert Dev Working On Getting Switch 2 Version Up And Running
Pearl Abyss, the South Korean developer and publisher, is actively working on bringing its open-world action-adventure game Crimson Desert to the Nintendo Switch 2. According to CEO Heo Jin-Young during a recent corporate briefing, the porting effort has progressed to a stage where “basic gameplay is possible.”
The company began research and development on a Switch 2 version earlier this year. However, bringing the game to Nintendo’s new hardware is proving to be more than a straightforward port—it requires significant optimization work before a release date can be considered. The CEO emphasized that while basic gameplay functionality has been achieved, further development and refinement are necessary before the company can commit to a launch timeline.
This represents Pearl Abyss’s commitment to maximizing Crimson Desert’s reach across multiple platforms. The Nintendo Switch 2’s hardware specifications will present specific optimization challenges that differ from the game’s performance on other systems, necessitating dedicated technical work to ensure the game runs adequately on the portable console.
