Analysts think SK hynix’s DRAM and NAND prices will finally drop by the end of 2028, but not before a huge rise over the next year
Bernstein research analysts have issued forecasts suggesting positive developments for DRAM by the end of 2028, based on analysis of profit margins for SK hynix, one of the three largest memory manufacturers alongside Samsung and Micron.
However, the near-term outlook is considerably less optimistic. Prices are expected to rise significantly over the next year before any relief arrives by late 2028. This extended timeline means that consumers and businesses should not expect immediate resolution to the ongoing “memory crisis” that has affected the computing industry.
The situation reflects widespread frustration across the sector. Maingear CEO Wallace Santos recently characterized the market outlook as offering “no light at the end of the tunnel,” capturing concerns about persistent memory pricing pressures. The Bernstein analysis suggests that relief, if it materializes, still remains approximately 18 months away and will depend on various market factors and production decisions by major memory manufacturers.
