Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader gets “massive update” on Switch 2 following disappointing launch, all DLC and expansions now free

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, Owlcat Games’ acclaimed 2023 party-based CRPG, is receiving a major update on Nintendo Switch 2 following a problematic launch on the console. The game, which Nintendo Life described as a “borderline disaster” in their 4/10 review, suffered from significant technical issues including constantly stuttering frame rates, lengthy loading times, unresponsive menus and controls, substantial graphical downgrade, and frequent hard crashes.

In an effort to address these concerns, Owlcat Games has announced a “massive update” that went live at 4pm BST / 8am PDT / 11am EDT. The patch aims to eliminate the “nasty bugs” plaguing the port while introducing various improvements to both visual presentation and overall performance.

As part of its redemption effort, the studio is also making all previously released DLC and expansions free for all players, signaling the developers’ determination to make amends with the community and improve the game’s standing on Switch 2. This move demonstrates Owlcat’s commitment to supporting the title despite the challenging launch circumstances.

While the full scope of improvements remains unclear, the update represents a significant investment in fixing what many considered one of the Nintendo Switch 2’s worst ports to date. The decision to bundle these fixes with free DLC access suggests Owlcat is taking player feedback seriously and working to salvage the Switch 2 version’s reputation.
