After buying up between $1m and $5m in Dell stock this year, Trump tells everyone to ‘go out and buy a Dell computer’. Again.

President Donald Trump has purchased between $1-5 million in Dell stock during 2026, and Dell’s stock price has increased significantly following his investment. In May, Trump publicly thanked Dell founders Michael and Susan Dell for donating over $6 billion to ‘Trump Accounts,’ an initiative directed toward assisting approximately 25 million American children. During that speech, Trump encouraged the audience to purchase Dell computers. This public endorsement coincided with the War Department’s announcement of a $9.7 billion contract with Dell. Approximately two months after this initial recommendation, Trump made a second public statement urging people to purchase Dell computers. The sequence of events—Trump’s significant stock purchase, subsequent public endorsements, and a major government defense contract—has generated discussion around potential conflicts of interest.
