Arc Raiders introduces separate Solo, Duo and Trio tracking so you can be friendly in one and a rat in the others

Arc Raiders, an extraction shooter combining PvP and PvE elements, has introduced a significant quality-of-life update in Patch 1.36.0. The new feature allows the game to track player behavior and playstyle separately across its three matchmaking pools: Solo, Duo, and Trio modes. This means players can maintain a friendly, cooperative reputation in one matchmaking mode while cultivating a more aggressive or “rat-like” playstyle in another, without it affecting their standing across all modes.

This update addresses a long-standing player request and confirms community suspicions that Arc Raiders’ matchmaking system actively groups players based on behavioral patterns. In a challenging PvPvE extraction shooter where the risk-reward dynamic creates different playstyle approaches, this separation is crucial for matchmaking quality. Some players prefer cooperative, friendly gameplay, while others adopt more ruthless extraction tactics. Previously, adopting different playstyles across modes would negatively impact a player’s reputation in all pools simultaneously.

The update is available now across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, allowing players to choose their approach based on their squad composition and mood. This flexibility addresses one of the core challenges in extraction shooters: managing reputation and matchmaking preferences across different social contexts. By enabling independent tracking, Embark Studios demonstrates its commitment to evolving the game’s systems based on community feedback and improving the overall player experience in this demanding subgenre.
