Atari appoints Andreas Deptolla as president of Atari Europe

Atari has named Andreas Deptolla as president of Atari Europe, reflecting the company’s strategic focus on strengthening its presence in the region. Deptolla transitions from his role as chief technology officer, which he held from August 2023 until April 2026. Relocating from the United States to Germany, Deptolla brings extensive experience in gaming industry leadership and partnerships.

In his new position, Deptolla will oversee Atari’s regional operations and work to expand the company’s network across Europe. He emphasized that success in the region depends on cultivating strong relationships with publishers, studios, and IP holders throughout the continent. His role includes supporting and developing talent at Atari’s existing European studios—Coatsink, Early Morning Studio, and Stormteller Games—while expanding external partnerships.

Deptolla’s appointment capitalizes on his established connections within the European gaming ecosystem. Prior to joining Atari’s executive leadership, he served as a board member for both Apogee Entertainment (known for Turbo Overkill and Lucid) and Thunderful Group (publisher of Planet of Lana and Lost in Random). These roles demonstrate his track record in supporting diverse game development projects and his understanding of the European market dynamics.
