Former Destiny 2 and Marathon director settles $200 million lawsuit against Sony and Bungie: ‘The outcome is one I am very satisfied with’

Christopher Barrett, the former game director of Marathon and a 25-year veteran at Bungie, has settled a $200 million lawsuit against Sony and Bungie. The settlement terms remain confidential, though Barrett expressed satisfaction with the agreement, describing himself as “very satisfied” with the outcome.

Barrett’s 2024 departure from Bungie followed reports that he was terminated due to allegations of inappropriate behavior toward women at the studio. During his nearly quarter-century tenure, he played a significant role in shaping some of gaming’s most successful franchises, serving as a designer and director on Halo and Destiny.

The settlement reportedly includes Barrett’s reinstatement in game credits, indicating the agreement addressed his concerns regarding professional recognition and legacy. While the confidential nature of the settlement prevents public disclosure of financial terms and other conditions, Barrett’s stated satisfaction suggests he views the resolution as favorable to his position.
