Deepward, a Brutal FPS Roguelite Set in the 1920s, Announced

Deepward is an upcoming first-person shooter roguelite from developer Echofall Games, set in a 1920s aesthetic and centered on brutal melee and gun-based combat. The game distinguishes itself through a unique hero system that allows players to choose three characters from a roster of six, switching between them on the fly during combat to adapt to different situations and playstyles.

Each hero brings distinct weapons, abilities, and backstories to the experience. The roguelite structure emphasizes permanent death on each descent, raising the stakes for exploration and combat encounters.

The game’s setting descends from a cursed, god-forsaken location into increasingly surreal depths, with environments ranging from gothic interiors and caves to prisons, ritual spaces, and impossible locations. This atmospheric design complements the narrative concept of uncovering buried truths as players delve deeper.

Deepward is currently in development for PC with no announced release window.
