Nexon to assume publishing duties for Overwatch on PC in South Korea
Blizzard has announced it will transfer publishing operations for Overwatch on PC in South Korea to Nexon, effective August 12, 2026. The transition coincides with the launch of the game’s fourth season and follows a partnership agreement reached earlier in the year between the two companies to develop a hyper-localized service for Korean players.
Under the new arrangement, Blizzard will retain control of the Overwatch intellectual property and continue to lead game development on a global scale. Nexon will assume responsibility for live service management and business operations specific to the South Korean market. Both companies plan to hire additional local talent to support the region-specific service, ensuring the game receives dedicated attention from teams familiar with local player preferences and market conditions.
Player migration is scheduled to occur on August 12, with account registration and linking having commenced on July 7. This change reflects Blizzard’s strategy to partner with regional operators better positioned to serve localized gaming communities, while the company focuses on core development and intellectual property management.
