Pokemon Winds And Waves Could Have 300 New Pokemon, But Don’t Get Too Excited
Pokemon Winds and Waves, the next mainline entry in the Pokemon series coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, may feature around 300 new Pokemon and forms according to leaker Centro Leaks. This represents a significant increase from the traditional 100 new Pokemon per generation, though the number includes both new species and form variations.
The game introduces Generation 10 and will populate a new region with unique creatures. The starter Pokemon have already been revealed: Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua. While Centro Leaks is considered a usually reliable source, the distinction between new Pokemon and new forms is important—the actual number of entirely new species could be substantially lower than the headline figure of 300.
Generations 6-9 of Pokemon games broke from the traditional pattern of introducing around 100 new Pokemon each, setting a precedent for higher numbers in recent releases. The 2027 release window gives Game Freak and The Pokemon Company considerable development time, and the Switch 2’s enhanced hardware may support the expanded Pokedex.
