Deltarune: Chapter 5 brings all-time player record
Deltarune: Chapter 5 launched on June 24 and achieved a landmark milestone for the indie RPG, shattering its all-time concurrent player record on Steam with 291,816 active players simultaneously. This more than doubled the game’s previous peak and positioned it in Steam’s top five charts—a tier typically dominated by live-service games and incremental idle clickers.
The release marks a significant cultural moment for series creator Toby Fox, whose original soundtrack from Deltarune has now achieved mainstream commercial recognition. Two tracks from the game, “Flower Man” and “Cutie Mew Mew Magic,” charted on Billboard’s music rankings for the first time, securing positions 13 and 18 respectively.
Available across multiple platforms including PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, Chapter 5’s success underscores sustained player interest in the long-running episodic series. Despite the sometimes lengthy gaps between chapter releases, the franchise continues to demonstrate its appeal with each new installment.
