Bungie gives Destiny 2 players a final farewell gift as the game enters maintenance mode

Destiny 2 has entered maintenance mode following the release of its final patch. Bungie marked the occasion with a farewell gift for players: a free emblem called Gloriabundus, which can be redeemed via Bungienet and equipped in players’ Flair Collections.

The emblem features a simple, elegant design showing the Destiny logo against a cityscape backdrop, depicting the Last City skyline bathed in light. Patch 9.7.0.3, released alongside the emblem, is largely focused on bug fixes with minimal gameplay changes. The update also increases reputation rewards from Vanguard and Crucible Ops activity completions.

With Destiny 2’s active development concluded, Bungie communications lead Dylan Gafner reassured the community that the game will not be completely abandoned. Players will retain access to Destiny 2 despite the end of story content and major updates. The shift to maintenance mode follows significant changes at Bungie, including workforce reductions that reshaped the studio.

This conclusion marks the end of an era for one of gaming’s most influential online shooters. Destiny 2 will remain playable for its community, though the journey of live-service content and story expansions has come to an end.
