Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Gets A New Gameplay Trailer
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 has received its first major gameplay trailer following the game’s announcement in January. The action RPG is set in Age 1000, an unexplored Dragon Ball world that takes place after the main series timeline. Players will create their own avatar, with a default Saiyan preset called J. Age available as an option.
The gameplay trailer showcases several new mechanics that expand on the Xenoverse formula. Notable additions include Soul Assists and Soul Switch, features that allow players to call upon other Dragon Ball characters—such as Vegeta—to provide assistance during combat. However, one significant change has generated mixed reactions from the community: the Awakening mechanic (the series’ equivalent of Super Saiyan transformations) is now limited to a finite duration rather than being indefinite, an adjustment that has frustrated some long-time fans.
Beyond combat mechanics, the trailer also reveals the expanded personal space system, where players can decorate and arrange their own customizable area, alongside an online hub for multiplayer interactions. The 6-minute gameplay deep dive demonstrates notable technical improvements over Xenoverse 2, including enhanced graphics and superior animation quality that represent a visible step up in presentation.
Bandai Namco is currently targeting a 2027 release for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.
