Godzilla Minus Zero Teaser Trailer Shows That Dropping a Nuke on the Legendary King of the Monsters Might Just Make It Angry

Godzilla Minus Zero, the highly anticipated sequel to the breakout hit Godzilla Minus One, has released a new teaser trailer showcasing a nuclear weapons strike against the legendary monster. The footage depicts humanity’s desperate attempt to stop Godzilla by detonating a nuclear weapon directly on the creature, only to see it emerge from the ocean undeterred and attack a seaplane—suggesting the weapon may have only enraged the beast rather than defeating it.

This marks the first-ever Japanese film production shot specifically for IMAX format. Director and writer Takashi Yamazaki, who helmed the original Godzilla Minus One, continues to demonstrate meticulous visual effects craftsmanship. The first film garnered widespread acclaim and won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects despite being created on a modest budget compared to major Hollywood productions. Minus Zero maintains this same level of technical detail and artistry in its sequel.

Set in 1949, two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, the new film continues the story of humanity’s struggle against the towering monster threat.
