Jeff Jarrett Explains Why TNA iMPACT! Never Got a Sequel
Jeff Jarrett, WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star, has reflected on TNA Wrestling’s venture into video gaming and the absence of sequels to their sole console game. Founded by Jarrett in 2002, TNA Wrestling emerged as a challenger brand to WWE during the early 2000s before establishing itself as a significant force in professional wrestling.
In 2008, TNA released TNA iMPACT! for consoles, bringing the promotion’s distinctive wrestling style to gaming platforms. The game distinguished itself through an innovative story mode centered on “Suicide,” a fictional character created specifically for the game. Notably, this virtual wrestler would later transition into reality when Suicide became an actual performer in TNA Wrestling’s roster, blurring the lines between the game’s narrative and professional wrestling canon.
Despite the game’s unique features and TNA’s prominence during that era, TNA iMPACT! remained the promotion’s only console video game release, with no sequel ever materialized. Jarrett’s recent commentary on why the franchise never continued provides insight into the business and creative decisions that shaped TNA’s limited presence in the gaming industry, highlighting the challenges wrestling promotions faced in translating their entertainment to interactive media during the late 2000s.
