Steam Machine Faceplates with E-Ink, Colour E-Ink and Dot Matrix Options Coming Soon

Jsaux, the accessory manufacturer known for transparent Steam Deck replacement shells, is expanding into Steam Machine accessories with upcoming plug-and-play faceplate options. The company is developing alternatives to Valve’s internally-designed e-ink faceplates, which were released as open-source designs requiring technical expertise for home assembly.

Jsaux’s offering includes three display options: a monochrome e-ink screen matching Valve’s official design, a smaller colour e-ink variant, and a colour dot matrix display. These ready-made alternatives aim to make the technology more accessible to consumers who want e-ink faceplate functionality without the engineering knowledge needed to build Valve’s open-source designs.

The announcement comes as Valve continues to support modular and customizable hardware for their Steam ecosystem. E-ink displays on device faceplates represent a novel approach to device aesthetics and functionality, offering low-power display options for static information like game names or custom artwork.
