Brutal Soulslike Mortal Shell 2 chooses violence, sets release date in the 2026 August traffic jam
Cold Symmetry has announced that Mortal Shell 2, its inventive Soulslike RPG, will launch on August 20, 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
The release date announcement comes amid an unusually congested games industry release calendar. As numerous developers and publishers have strategically shifted their launch windows to avoid competing with Grand Theft Auto 6, August 2026 has emerged as one of the busiest release periods in industry history. Rather than defer their launch further, Cold Symmetry has chosen to release Mortal Shell 2 during this crowded competitive window.
The decision to commit to an August release despite the heavy traffic suggests confidence in the game’s appeal within the Soulslike community, even against significant rival releases.
