Palworld Dev Says ‘Turning Off Mods’ is Not Enough for 1.0
Palworld is launching into full 1.0 release tomorrow after spending 2.5 years in early access. Developer Pocketpair has issued an important PSA for players: simply disabling old mods is not sufficient—players must completely uninstall any mods from previous versions before updating to 1.0.
The warning is necessary because Palworld 1.0 introduces significant system changes that could cause compatibility issues with older mod data. Mods that haven’t been updated in a while may contain data that conflicts with the new version, potentially causing problems for players. This is particularly important for those returning to the game after a long absence who may have forgotten about outdated mods still sitting in their game directory.
Pocketpair stated that “due to legal and game design considerations, we are unable to officially approve or guarantee the functionality of all mods” in Palworld 1.0. The studio emphasized that using mods will be entirely at players’ own risk, though they remain supportive of modding in general. In their announcement, Pocketpair expressed enthusiasm about the mods that will be created after the 1.0 launch, indicating they want to foster the modding community moving forward.
The news comes as part of Pocketpair’s preparation for the full release, which includes the largest patch update for the game to date. The studio is working to ensure a smooth transition from early access to full release, making this guidance a critical part of launch readiness for players.
