Stardew Valley enters the third dimension thanks to this in-development mod that even comes with VR functionality

A modder named kittycatcasey is developing a 3D reimagining of Stardew Valley, converting the beloved 2D farming simulator into a full three-dimensional experience. The mod transforms the familiar gameplay elements—walking through your home, conversing with NPCs, checking the weather, and harvesting crops—into a 3D perspective while maintaining the core mechanics that make Stardew Valley recognizable.

Beyond the dimensional shift, the mod includes virtual reality (VR) functionality, enabling players to experience the farming sim through a VR headset. The project remains in active development. The visual transformation creates an unusual, almost uncanny effect—the game is instantly identifiable as Stardew Valley while simultaneously feeling entirely different through the three-dimensional lens.

This ambitious fan project highlights the creative potential of the modding community to fundamentally reimagine established titles. While Stardew Valley has attracted numerous mods since its release, a complete dimensional overhaul of this scope represents a significant technical undertaking that pushes the boundaries of community-driven game development.
