“This is our Spider-Man 3” - Soulfame’s Warsong update adds “edgelord” progression path later this year
Digital Extremes has announced Warsong, a major update to Soulframe, its fantasy action-RPG currently in closed pre-alpha testing. The update introduces the Warsongs Fable, a story quest featuring actor Ben Starr as antagonist Tempest Bayor. The narrative explores the player character’s tragic backstory, their Envoy powers, and the Ode—a space-faring enemy faction seeking to harvest and corrupt the world’s resources.
Warsong includes several gameplay additions: rideable wolf mounts, “vegan” fishing, and a new corrupted Vadagar Pact—a progression path that transforms players’ characters into an “ichor-slathered bone warrior with whipsword” aesthetic. A notable moment in the quest involves a playable beaver sequence where players briefly control the animal swimming downriver to rescue a baby. Developers confirmed the beaver will be fine.
Coinciding with TennoCon 2026, Digital Extremes is granting temporary free access to Soulframe: Preludes to anyone who signs up by July 12, 11:59 PM ET. This allows interested players to participate in playtesting the multiplayer RPG. Developers have positioned Warsong as a significant milestone for the game, comparing it to major sequel releases.
