The GoldenEye homage that left us ‘shaken and stirred’ in 2022 is finally launching in August
Agent 64: Spies Never Die, developed by Replicant D6, is a spiritual successor to Rare’s beloved Nintendo 64 first-person shooters GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. The game is set to launch on August 11 for PC after an extended development cycle.
The project first gained attention at the 2022 PC Gaming Show, where it impressed audiences with its faithful homage to classic spy shooter gameplay. However, development has faced significant delays—an early access release initially planned for late 2022 never materialized, and Steam updates have been sparse in the years since.
Developer Replicant D6 recently announced the release date after completing over five and a half years of development work. Agent 64: Spies Never Die features both local and online multiplayer modes, remaining true to the multiplayer-focused legacy of its inspirations. A playable demo is currently available on Steam for interested players.
The launch represents a milestone for retro-inspired indie game development, highlighting the ongoing dedication to preserving and modernizing the gameplay styles of influential titles from gaming’s golden age.
