More evidence that Multi Frame Gen is on the way to AMD RDNA4 GPUs, potentially as high as 8x

AMD appears to be preparing Multi Frame Generation (MFG) support for its upcoming RDNA4 graphics cards, with evidence suggesting frame rate multipliers potentially reaching 8x. The discovery came from a user on the Chinese tech forum Chiphell, who identified frame generation settings hidden within recent AMD graphics drivers.

The evidence was uncovered through RadeonTuner, a third-party tool that provides advanced access to features present in AMD’s driver code but not yet exposed in the official Adrenalin driver interface. By examining the driver’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) settings, the user found dropdown menus indicating support for MFG ratios of up to 8x frame multiplication.

Multi Frame Generation represents an evolution of frame generation technology beyond traditional 2x frame interpolation, potentially delivering more substantial frame rate improvements for gaming and other GPU-accelerated workloads. Similar technology has been explored by competitors, but AMD’s implementation would mark a significant addition to RDNA4’s feature set.

The discovery indicates that AMD is actively developing the technology, though it remains in early stages and not yet available to users through the official driver interface. The presence of these settings in recent driver updates suggests a public release may be forthcoming, though AMD has not officially confirmed availability timelines or implementation details.
