Excellent sports manga Blue Box comes to an end ahead of anime’s return this October
Blue Box, the beloved romance/sports manga by Kōji Miura, concluded its serialization with the publication of its 250th and final chapter in Weekly Shōnen Jump. The series, which began as a one-shot before launching its full serialization in April 2021, has been collected into 26 volumes with two additional volumes forthcoming to complete the series. Over its five-year run, Blue Box garnered significant appreciation from readers for its portrayal of youth and passion within its romance and sports storyline.
The final chapter has been met with overwhelmingly positive reception from the manga community. Readers praised the series’ ability to deliver a satisfying sense of closure and expressed gratitude to Miura for capturing “the burning passion of a fleeting youth.” The positive reception stands in contrast to some other recent final chapters from Weekly Shōnen Jump, which have received more mixed reactions from fans.
The timing of Blue Box’s conclusion coincides with renewed momentum for the franchise, as its anime adaptation is scheduled to return in October. The combination of a well-received manga ending and the upcoming anime premiere positions Blue Box to remain prominent in the anime and manga community in the coming months.
