A new Copilot feature tells you what might be slowing down your PC—while gorging itself on a fair chunk of your system RAM
Microsoft is introducing a new feature for Copilot called PC Insights that will leverage Windows APIs to analyze your system hardware and performance. The feature allows users to ask Copilot questions about their system’s current state, such as CPU usage and available storage space, while receiving recommendations about what might be slowing down their PC.
According to Windows Latest, the Copilot application—which runs as an Edge-based web app installed on Windows 11 despite the AI model itself residing in Microsoft’s cloud—will gain deeper integration with Windows system monitoring capabilities. Example queries discovered in the interface include questions about CPU usage and storage capacity checks for large files.
However, the implementation comes with a trade-off. The new PC Insights feature reportedly consumes a significant amount of system RAM, potentially impacting overall performance even as it helps users diagnose performance issues. This creates an ironic situation where the tool designed to identify what’s slowing down your PC may itself become a resource drain on systems with limited memory.
