Cousin, Where’s The GTA 4 Remaster? Roman Bellic Actor Wants Answers

Grand Theft Auto 5 has achieved remarkable commercial success with 230 million lifetime sales, bolstered by remasters across multiple console generations. Rockstar has applied this strategy to several older titles in the franchise, yet Grand Theft Auto 4—the direct predecessor to GTA 5—remains without an updated version despite fan interest and industry precedent.

Voice actor Jason Zumwalt, who portrayed the fan-favorite character Roman Bellic in GTA 4, has publicly expressed his own bewilderment at the absence of a remaster. When asked about it, Zumwalt stated he would love to see a GTA 4 remaster but acknowledged uncertainty about why Rockstar hasn’t pursued the project. He suggested that licensing constraints, particularly related to Screen Actors Guild (SAG) contracts, may be a significant barrier to reviving the 2008 title—a challenge that has historically complicated efforts by other publishers to update games featuring union voice talent.

The question of why GTA 4 remains unremasted continues to puzzle players and industry observers. Whether tied to contract complexities, technical challenges, or strategic priorities, the absence of a remaster stands in marked contrast to GTA 5’s ongoing support and updates across new hardware platforms.
