Steam had a slow start to Monday just like the rest of us

Steam experienced significant service disruptions on Monday morning, July 13, affecting the store, community hub, and various game APIs. The platform encountered multiple concurrent issues including intermittent downtime, degraded performance, and infrastructure errors across its services.

The outages impacted several Steam components simultaneously. The store and community pages both showed “Very Slow” status indicators, while several regional servers became overloaded. Deadlock’s multiplayer API returned Internal Server Error responses during the incident. The Steam API itself flickered between normal and offline states, exacerbating the cascading failures across dependent services.

Users also encountered “Bad Gateway” errors when attempting to access affected services, indicating issues with load balancing or backend server connectivity. The widespread nature of the disruptions suggested a systemic infrastructure problem rather than isolated component failures.

Valve addressed the issues during the morning, with all systems showing operational status by 11:30 PT Pacific Time. Service monitoring tools confirmed the resolution across all affected components.
