As England’s World Cup Semi-Final Nears, David Beckham Announces He’s Joining Fortnite
English football legend David Beckham has announced a new collaboration with Fortnite, bringing his likeness to the popular battle royale game. The announcement came via an Instagram post where Beckham shared that he is “working on my new Fortnite character,” with the skins becoming available “very soon.”
The partnership will include two distinct Beckham skins for players to unlock. One will feature the football icon in his iconic number 7 England shirt, celebrating his storied career as the nation’s former captain. The second skin presents Beckham in formal attire—a suit and tie—referencing his recent appearances in the stands during England’s World Cup campaign, which is approaching a crucial semi-final match.
This collaboration represents another major celebrity partnership for Fortnite, which has built a significant portfolio of branded crossovers and character skins featuring athletes, musicians, and entertainment figures. The timing of the announcement coincides with England’s continued World Cup run, providing thematic relevance to the gaming crossover.
While complete details remain limited, the announcement suggests a straightforward cosmetic collaboration focused on making Beckham’s likeness available as purchasable skins within the game. The dual-skin approach allows players to choose between celebrating Beckham’s playing career or his more recent public-facing role as a sports personality.
