So THIS is why component makers have started validating their products for Chinese memory
Motherboard and component manufacturers including MSI and ASUS have begun validating their products for Chinese-made memory modules, signaling a significant shift in the global DRAM supply chain. This validation push reflects a major capacity expansion by Chinese memory producer CXMT, which is dramatically increasing its production output.
According to analysis based on Citrini’s research shared by analyst Zephyr on X, CXMT is positioned to add between 600,000 and 1.1 million wafers per month (WPM) of DRAM capacity, potentially reaching a total capacity of 950,000 to 1.45 million WPM. By the end of 2026, CXMT is expected to produce approximately 350,000 WPM—comparable to Micron’s anticipated 375,000 WPM production for 2026.
This development marks a pivotal moment in semiconductor manufacturing, with Chinese producers emerging as serious competitors in the memory market. The validation efforts by major component makers suggest industry-wide recognition that Chinese DRAM supplies will represent a substantial portion of future memory availability. The capacity numbers indicate CXMT could potentially approach Micron’s production levels, fundamentally reshaping the competitive landscape for DRAM supplies and potentially impacting pricing and availability for PC components globally.
