“It’s already exceeding our expectations on Switch 2” - Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen already running at ‘30fps and higher’ on Nintendo handheld

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 9, 2026, bundled with the new Dark Arisen expansion. According to Capcom’s producer, the port is “already exceeding our expectations,” running at a minimum of 30 frames per second on the handheld hybrid console.

The announcement marks a notable turnaround for the title, which faced significant performance criticism following its 2024 release on PlayStation 5 and PC. Frame rates frequently dipped during gameplay on PS5 at launch, and although post-launch patches improved performance, the experience remained far from optimal.

Successfully bringing Dragon’s Dogma 2 to Switch 2—a substantially less powerful device than the original platforms—is considered a technical achievement. The feat demonstrates the capabilities of Capcom’s RE engine on Nintendo’s newer hardware, particularly given the game’s graphical demands and scale.

This Switch 2 port exemplifies a broader trend of Capcom bringing ambitious AAA titles to the platform. The publisher has already confirmed that other games including Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem run “flawlessly” on Switch 2, with Monster Hunter Wilds also launching on the device. These successful ports suggest that the Switch 2’s architecture is proving more developer-friendly for complex projects than many initially anticipated.

The Switch 2 version includes the Dark Arisen expansion alongside the base game at launch, offering the full modern experience rather than a stripped-down port, underscoring Capcom’s confidence in the platform’s capabilities.
