Epic Games Store boss quits after 8 years to take up new role at Saber Interactive

Steve Allison has left Epic Games after eight years as vice president and general manager of the Epic Games Store, which he launched in 2018. He is now chief business officer at Saber Interactive.

In announcing his departure, Allison expressed confidence in Saber Interactive’s vision and capabilities. He cited the studio’s unique competitive strength: a network of talented game-developing studios that produce high-quality titles at 30-50% below standard industry development costs. This efficiency model positions Saber favorably in an increasingly expensive gaming market.

Saber Interactive has an ambitious portfolio in development. The studio is working on Space Marine 3, Jurassic Park, Turok, and Hellraiser games, as well as an upcoming John Wick title. Several additional unannounced projects are also in the pipeline.

Allison’s eight-year leadership of the Epic Games Store represents a significant tenure during the platform’s critical growth phase as a Steam competitor. His departure marks an important transition for the storefront, which remains central to Epic Games’ digital distribution strategy.
