Aream & Co: Gaming M&A hits $2.3bn in Q2, highest level since 2022

Gaming industry mergers and acquisitions activity surged in Q2 2026, reaching $2.3 billion across 54 transactions—the highest level since 2022, according to a report from investment bank Aream & Co. The recovery was primarily fueled by mid-market gaming content acquisitions (deals over $100 million), which reached their strongest performance since the pandemic boom period.

The growth was particularly driven by activity in PC gaming and mobile studios. Notable high-profile transactions during the quarter included Scopely’s substantial $1 billion acquisition of Loom, along with Wemade founder Park Kwan-ho’s plan to divest his 35% stake in the company. Key PC gaming industry players including Playstack, Fenris Creations, and CCP were among the active participants in this M&A wave.

The resurgence in mid-market acquisition activity reflects growing investor confidence in the gaming sector. The concentration of deal-making in companies focused on PC and mobile gaming suggests that established publishers continue to see strategic value in acquiring proven development teams and intellectual property within these rapidly evolving market segments.
