Super Bomberman Collection Adds Super Famicom Game In Free August Update

Konami has announced a free update for the Super Bomberman Collection that will expand the game’s lineup with a previously Japan-exclusive title. On August 20, 2026, players on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 will gain access to Super Bomberman: Panic Bomber W, originally developed by Hudson Soft for the Super Famicom console in 1995.

Panic Bomber W is a competitive puzzle game designed for 1-4 players, offering a different experience from the mainline Bomberman franchise’s action-focused gameplay. The addition follows the Super Bomberman Collection’s launch in February 2026, continuing Konami’s effort to expand the franchise’s offerings.

This update exemplifies the growing trend of game preservation through digital re-releases, making previously region-locked or obscure titles accessible to international markets. By bringing Panic Bomber W outside Japan for the first time via Switch and Switch 2, Konami is providing players worldwide with access to a piece of Bomberman’s competitive puzzle history. The free nature of the update makes it an attractive addition for existing collection owners and may encourage new players to explore the Super Bomberman Collection.
