Battlefield 6 is bringing back a feature we’ve not seen since Battlefield 2, and teasing a fitting Top Gun collab alongside it
Battlefield 6 Season 4, launching on July 21st, marks a significant return for the franchise with the reintroduction of naval warfare—a gameplay feature absent from the series since Battlefield 2. Dice released the season trailer a week ahead of launch, showcasing the new aquatic gameplay systems alongside the classic mechanics fans remember.
Two new water vehicles debut this season: the RCB-90 Patrol Boat, designed as the naval equivalent to tanks with substantial firepower capabilities, and the 7.7m NSW RHIB light transport boat for lighter engagements and troop movement. These vehicles enable new strategic gameplay on aquatic maps.
Tsuru Reef serves as the primary setting for Season 4 content and becomes Battlefield 6’s largest map to date, providing ample space for naval warfare mechanics to flourish. Wake Island is also confirmed to arrive with this season.
Enhancing the nostalgic revival, Battlefield Studios is teasing a Top Gun collaboration for Season 4. While details remain limited, the crossover complements the naval warfare focus. The season represents Dice’s strategy to blend returning franchise features with contemporary live-service content and licensed intellectual properties.
