Activision has unveiled “Kill Block,” an ambitious new multiplayer map feature for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 that utilizes modular design to create dynamic gameplay experiences. Set at the fictional West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility, Kill Block represents a significant departure from traditional Call of Duty map design by featuring over 500 possible map configurations.

The map’s innovative design uses three interchangeable modular sections that reconfigure before each match, ensuring players encounter a different battlefield every time they load into a game. This system creates hundreds of potential combinations from the modular pieces, keeping gameplay fresh and forcing teams to constantly adapt their strategies rather than relying on memorized map layouts—a fundamental shift from how players traditionally approach Call of Duty multiplayer.

In terms of scale, Kill Block matches the footprint of Shoot House, a popular map from 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, providing a familiar size while delivering entirely new strategic possibilities through its reconfigurable design. The modular approach draws inspiration from fan-favorite Call of Duty maps, creating a unique experience that leverages the franchise’s legacy.

Activision is revealing Kill Block to the public for the first time at Fanatics Fest in New York City, scheduled for January 16-19 at the Javits Center. This announcement breaks tradition, as multiplayer map reveals are typically reserved for the annual Call of Duty NEXT event. Due to the unconfirmed 2026 date for Call of Duty NEXT, Infinity Ward opted to showcase the feature at Fanatics Fest instead. The event will include a panel featuring Infinity Ward Studio Co-Head Mark Grigsby. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch in October 2026.
