A Warner Bros. Looney Tunes Game Is Shutting Down Soon
Scopely’s Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem will shut down on October 15, 2026. The mobile game’s developer announced the decision in a blog post, describing it as a difficult choice made “after a great deal of thought.”
The shutdown unfolds in stages over the coming months. Players have until August 16 to spend any remaining in-game currency. The game will be delisted from digital app stores on August 23, and the game’s social media channels will be disabled on the same date. After October 15, the game will be permanently unplayable.
World of Mayhem is another casualty of the live-service gaming model, where online-dependent games are regularly shut down when they no longer meet profitability thresholds. Scopely, the developer behind mobile hits like Monopoly GO and a major contributor to Pokémon GO, determined that continuing to operate the Looney Tunes title was no longer economically viable.
The shutdown timeline gives players roughly three months to wrap up their experience. Such closures have become increasingly common in the industry, sparking ongoing discussions about game preservation and the risks of investing in games dependent on persistent online servers.
