Of Course The Odyssey is Joining Fortnite — And Matt Damon is a Skin
Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey is arriving in Fortnite, with the collaboration launching July 16. Epic Games announced the partnership via the official Fortnite X account on July 15, accompanied by a cinematic teaser.
The centerpiece is a new Odysseus skin featuring Matt Damon’s likeness—Damon plays the legendary hero in Nolan’s film. The teaser showcases a digital recreation of the character walking through Greek environments evocative of the movie, with several scenes recreating moments from the film’s trailers. Notable sequences include Odysseus and his men entering Polyphemus’ cave and the hero adrift in the ocean, both iconic moments from the classical epic.
The update rolls out alongside other major collaborations. David Beckham, England’s football legend, is also joining as a playable skin, along with a collection of Batman characters reimagined in swimsuit variants. These announcements underscore Fortnite’s continued emphasis on positioning itself as a premier platform for entertainment collaborations spanning film, sports, and comics.
The timing leverages The Odyssey’s theatrical release, extending the film’s marketing footprint into one of gaming’s largest active audiences. Fortnite has established itself as a go-to destination for major studio promotional tie-ins, making such partnerships valuable for content creators seeking cross-media exposure. The Odysseus skin will be available in the in-game item shop following the update.
