This viral Steam PC horror game is coming exclusive to Xbox on consoles next week, with Game Pass and Play Anywhere

Shift at Midnight, an indie horror game that gained viral popularity on Steam, is expanding beyond its original PC-exclusive plans. Developer Bun Muen announced on July 10, 2026, that the asymmetric co-op horror title will launch on Xbox consoles on July 22, 2026, alongside its planned Steam PC release. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass and through Xbox Play Anywhere, providing console players with immediate access to the title.

The game tasks players with managing a gas station at midnight in a remote location, blending detective work with horror elements. Players can tackle this role solo or cooperatively with up to three players in online co-op mode, with full crossplay support enabling seamless play between Xbox and PC platforms.

The announcement represents a significant shift in the game’s distribution strategy, transforming it from a Steam-exclusive release into a multi-platform title with strong integration into Microsoft’s gaming ecosystem. The combination of Game Pass inclusion and Play Anywhere functionality positions the indie title prominently within Xbox’s subscription service and cross-buy features.
