Arc Raiders is fixing a bug that would sign players up to be shipped off to the apocalyptic wasteland without telling them

Arc Raiders developer Embark is fixing a bug that automatically enrolled players in the game’s upcoming Expedition without their consent. The issue affected players who completed the 100K damage challenge in the third season, automatically signing them up for the fourth Expedition regardless of whether they wanted to participate.

Expeditions in Arc Raiders represent a significant seasonal reset where players must clear their raider—wiping their character and stash for a fresh start—though participation comes with certain perks for the new season. Given the substantial commitment required, not all players are willing or able to undertake an Expedition, making the automatic enrollment particularly frustrating for affected players.

The bug removed player agency from an intentional, high-stakes decision about seasonal progression. Completing challenge milestones should reward players, not lock them into unwanted commitments. Embark acknowledged the issue and announced a fix, aiming to restore the opt-in nature of Expedition participation and ensure players can make fully informed choices about whether to participate in the seasonal reset.
