Korea Report Outlines Unpaid Wages for Dplus KIA LoL Roster; Is Dplus KIA’s Place in the LCK at Risk?

Dplus KIA’s League of Legends roster is facing significant financial hardship, with players currently owed one month’s salary. According to Korean outlet Daily e-Sports, the organization previously owed two months of wages before recently clearing one month of backpay. Riot Games has warned that continued non-payment could result in Dplus KIA’s removal from the LCK, the Korean professional League of Legends league.

Despite financial difficulties, Dplus KIA has achieved success at the Esports World Cup (EWC). The team eliminated LEC champions G2 Esports from the tournament’s qualifier stage, securing a top-eight spot and guaranteed prize money of at least $90,000. This comes as G2 continues a downward trend, having lost 3-0 to LYON at MSI and failing to win against AG.AL and Dplus KIA at EWC, despite an earlier victory over FURIA.

The prize money from EWC could prove crucial for Dplus KIA as it addresses wage payment obligations. The situation underscores financial pressures facing esports organizations, particularly in the Korean market, while highlighting the competitive strength of Dplus KIA’s roster despite their off-field challenges.
